My must haves...

It seems there are a lot of things I've been loving lately. Here are a few things that bring joy to my days...

1. Eli gave me this cd a long time ago, and I liked it then, but I am LOVING it now! I have a 6-disc changer and can't stand to listen to anything else. I even listen to it at work on my computer, when I'm on my conference. If you like pop music, I promise you will love Alexis Jordan. She is pretty much my hero right now. :)
 2. Snow cones! I have been alternating between peach/grape, and strawberry/coconut. I LOVE snow cones. I've always liked them a lot, but I think this pregnancy has taken my obsession up a notch! This rainbow one looks pretty terrific...maybe I'll get that next time. :)
 3. I am loving coconut everything, but this Coconut milk is awesome! I rarely drink coffee anymore (and decaf when I do), but I love adding some of this to it, and it's not nearly as bad as my Mounds bar creamer. It's also great in my homemade smoothies. Yum!
 4. Lip Butter! I saw this advertised by Emma Stone and it caught my attention. Mom Oldham and I were in the Burnet Walgreens for about an hour over Easter weekend, and I decided to buy it. Best $8 I have spent in a while! I love it! I chose the shade "peach parfait" based solely on the fact that it's what Emma was wearing in the little poster above the Revlon section, and I liked the way it looked on her. Turns out I like the way it looks on me too. Even better, I like the way it feels. Not thick like lipstick, but light and smooth like chap stick.
 5. Dill pickles. Who am I? I guess the pregnant version of myself loves something I formerly detested. Oh well...it sure is satisfying! :)
So that's a few of the things I have been craving and loving lately. :) What have you been digging?

Mother/Daughter Day

On Tuesday, March 27th, Mom came up to accompany me for my second appointment wtih Dr. Heckman. She came in Monday night and left Wednesday morning, and it was an amazing visit! Of course, Tuesday was the best. :) I took the entire day off work. My appointment was at 9:30, so we headed straight to Dallas. When we arrived the nurse did a survey of genetic and health disorders in Zac and myself. I can see how some women might freak out hearing the long list of possible issues (spina bifida, cerebal palsy, austism, down syndrome, etc). I'm not sure if it's because I was on a complete high, just being with mom and at the ob (I'm PREGNANT!!) or if it's because I work with kids with all of these disorders and don't see them as scary and negative as some do, but it didn't bother me or phase me. Anyways, when Dr. Heckman came in, he asked how I'd been feeling and answered some of my pre-written questions. We listened to the baby's heartbeat, and he asked mom if she was going to get to come up a lot. Mom told him that my sister is expecting and April and she just put her mom in a retirement home, so she wasn't sure if she'd make it up much. Guess what...he asked if we wanted to do a sonogram!? Isn't that the greatest? I was already prepared to beg him, and didn't even have to! :) The sonogram was easily the best part of the day. The sonographer woman really spent a lot of time, and we got to see both traditional and 3-D images! Look how cute my sweet pea was at 11 weeks...

After the appointment, we went to eat a celebratory lunch at PF Changs. Because how many times are you pregnant for the first time, and spending the day with your Mama, who came just to be a part of the excitement and to make you feel extra special? :) After lunch we went to North Park Mall. It's a very nice mall. I don't go often, but I enjoy it when I do. I found some great maternity items at GAP and we hit the jackpot in the H&M kids department. I bought Eliza and Madeline matching dresses, and although I've received pics of each of them wearing them separately, all my dreams will really come true when both nieces are together, wearing matching pink dresses.
I wish they had a tiny one for Annabelle too! (shout out to my youngest niece, who is due to arrive within the week! I can't wait to meet her! Squeal!) Mom and I shopped until we dropped, then headed home to meet Zac for some dinner. We went to Tuscan Slice, and it was delish as usual. The day was so magical, from beginning to end. I can't wait to go back to see Dr. Heckman in one week, next Monday, April 23rd. :)

New Routines

Yes, things have changed since we found out I was pregnant, but I totally love the changes, and quite enjoy our new little routines. Perhaps the main thing I'm talking about are our Saturday and Sunday trips to the park. There is a large park with a long walking trail about ten minutes from our house. The past several weekends in a row, we've gone for a long relaxing (but exercising!) walk. Molly loves these trips too! We usually end the walk with a snow-cone. I alternate between half grape/half peach, and half strawberry/half clear coconut. Yum! A strange thing happened today when I stood in line for my snowie. I saw a woman order a large dill pickle, and it looked sooo- yummy! I brought $2.75 to get a medium snow-cone, but decided to get a junior one instead, AND a pickle! :) Now, I loved pickles when I was a kid, and I'll still eat them on a burger, but as far as just eating a huge dill pickle? That is so not me. Well, until now. I used to be the person who moves in the movie theater if someone sat down next to me with a big pickle. And now I'm a pickle eater. Pregnancy makes me like funny things, I guess. :)
More about our new routines later...one of my pregnancy routines is an early bedtime, and it is WAY past my bedtime. And for the record, I chose to forgo my usual Sunday nap, and instead be productive and box up the clothes in my armoir and closet that don't fit me anymore. :) I have a very empty armoir right now!
